Dents, stains and smells regularly wipe as much as 15 per cent off the trade-in value of a car, according to a survey published by used car traders Network Q.
Reckless driving is the most common problem, with the evidence of clumsy parking and minor bumps affecting one in three cars. Smoking damage is next, affecting one in five cars, and the smell that dogs leave behind comes in third. Undesirable aftermarket customising and food and drink spills also feature.
'A simple valet can mean the difference between making a sale or not,' said Network Q spokesman Stuart Simms.
